Delete Your Account

This page explains how to delete your SpecReply account and the data associated with it.

In plain English: Delete your account from the website or by email. Your profile disappears right away and your data is permanently deleted 30 days later. A few records the law requires are kept longer; they are listed below.

1. Delete your account on the website

Sign in at specreply.com and go to your account settings, then choose Delete account.

2. Delete your account by email

Email hello@specreply.com from the email address on your account with the subject "Delete my account." If you write from a different address, we will ask you to confirm that the account is yours before we delete anything. We will confirm by email when your account is scheduled for deletion, normally within 2 business days, and again when the deletion is complete.

3. What happens when you delete your account

  1. Your profile is hidden right away, you are signed out on every device, and we stop sending you notifications.
  2. For 30 days, you can cancel the deletion by signing in again or emailing us.
  3. After that, your account and the data below are permanently deleted. This cannot be undone.

If you signed in with Apple, we also revoke SpecReply's access to your Apple ID.

5. What is kept, and for how long

In plain English: Only what the law, security or a business's own records require.

  • Payment information: kept for 7 years, because tax and accounting laws require it.
  • Logs and security data: kept for 30 days, to keep the Service secure.
  • Messages you send us: kept for 3 years, unless you ask us to delete them too.
  • Backups: deleted data disappears from our rolling backups within 35 days.

6. Closing a business account

If you own a business account, deleting your own login does not close the business. To close it, the owner closes the account from its settings or emails hello@specreply.com. After closing, we delete the business's data within 90 days, except payment and tax records the law requires us to keep.

7. Delete some data without deleting your account

You can remove your phone number and other optional details from your profile at any time, or email hello@specreply.com to ask us to delete specific data. We respond within 30 days.
